Scripture Study

“Therefore, like the Christian religion itself, all the preaching of the Church must be nourished and regulated by Sacred Scripture. For in the sacred books, the Father who is in heaven meets His children with great love and speaks with them; and the force and power in the word of God is so great that it stands as the support and energy of the Church, the strength of faith for her sons, the food of the soul, the pure and everlasting source of spiritual life.” (Paragraph 21, Dei Verbum).

SVDP Parish will begin studying the book of the Acts of the Apostles following Labor Day 2013.

We will meet Wednesday evenings from 7-9pm, Thursday mornings from 9-11amSunday mornings from 9-11am, and Sunday evenings from 6-8pm in the St Francis Center (house next to the Rectory).  We break for Advent, Christmas season, and the summer.  Check the bulletin for any changes.  Below is a summary of the program.  If you have any questions about the program or want to register, please contact Greg Henkel at or 740-392-4711 x5.

The Acts of the Apostles is more than a history of the First Christians. It is an incredible story of the power of the Holy Spirit.  The Acts of the Apostles provides an historic framework for understanding the rest of the New Testament. After the Ascension of Christ, the Apostles appeared worried and confused. They had spent three years in the presence of our Savior and our God, and now He had returned to His Father. But he did not leave them alone. Christ sent the Apostles the Holy Spirit to guide, instruct, and empower them. In Acts: The Spread of the Kingdom, you will witness how the Apostles, through the Power of the Holy Spirit, continued the saving mission of Christ on earth. You will see how the Kingdom of God is truly among us in the Holy Church established by Christ, and you will come to a greater appreciation for the entire Catholic Faith.
